Training description

The training is designed to provide participants with a full understanding of the mechanisms of operation and the reporting process of CBAM, also known as CARBON BORDER ADJUSTMENT MECHANISM. During the training, participants will explore the principles behind CBAM and learn what the reporting requirements are under this mechanism. By explaining key CBAM concepts and legislation, participants will gain a better understanding of how this system affects international trade and the implications for their organization.

Training goal

The purpose of the training is to provide participants with a full understanding of the mechanisms of operation and reporting of CBAM, in accordance with the provisions set forth in Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No. 2023/1773 of August 17, 2023. This concerns the establishment of rules for the application of Regulation (EU) No. 2023/956 of the European Parliament and of the Council with regard to reporting obligations in the context of the CO2-price adjustment mechanism at the border during the transition period. By discussing these regulations, participants will be able to better understand the reporting requirements and practical aspects of applying CBAM in their organizations.

Training program

1. Introduction to CARBON BORDER ADJUSTMENT MECHANISM:
a) discussion of basic concepts and objectives of CBAM.

2. CBAM in the context of European Union Emissions Trading System:
a) overview of EU ETS and its relationship with CBAM.

3. Scope of CBAM implementation:
a) products covered by regulations and product categories subject to reporting requirements,
b) entities subject to reporting obligations,
c) excluded geographic areas and value criterion.

4. CBAM implementation schedule:
a) define the CBAM implementation plan and responsibilities during the transition period.

5. CBAM regulations:
a) overview of relevant CBAM laws and regulations.

6. Necessary information on reports:
a) discussion of required quarterly and annual reports and procedures for correcting reports.

7. Responsible authorities and controls:
a) presentation of authorities responsible for CBAM supervision and sanctions for non-compliance.

8. CBAM transition registry:
a) step-by-step instructions for completing reports for the CBAM transition registry.

9. Strategy for implementing CBAM in the organization:
a) discuss strategies and practical steps for implementing CBAM in an organization.

10. Checklist for the importer:
a) practical guidance and checklist for importers in meeting CBAM requirements.

11. Q&A session:
a) interactive session that allows participants to ask questions and clarify concerns.

12. Summary of training.
